Food Service Worker

Overview

We are hiring Food Service Workers to support the Nutrition and Food Services department of one our premier health care medical centre. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in a clean, well-run kitchen.

Job Role

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, trays, pots, pans, and utensils by hand and using a dish machine

  • Sort, stack, and rack tray ware for loading and unloading
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, carts, and work areas; sweep and mop designated areas
  • Separate food waste, trash, and recyclables and dispose of them properly
  • Retrieve soiled carts from patient units and deliver clean carts to designated units
  • Interact courteously and respectfully with Veterans, visitors, and VA staff

 

Requirements

  • Current Food Handler Certificate (ServSafe, ANAB-accredited, or ANSI-approved program required to start)

  • Ability to pass a fingerprint-based federal background check

  • Comfortable with physical work — standing, lifting, and repetitive tasks in a kitchen environment

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team

  • Prior food service or dishwashing experience helpful but not required

Additional Requirement: 

  • Background check clearance (fingerprint-based)

  • Completion of VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness training and HIPAA-focused training within your first month 
  • Valid Food Handler Certificat

 

Benefits

  • Pay: $18.50/hour + $5.09/hour Health & Welfare benefit (total compensation ≈ $23.59/hour)
